Rob has very kindly let me borrow his copy of Kinect game The Gunstringer.

You take on the role of a puppet, who has been betrayed and left to rot. Against all odds the gunstringer comes back to life to reap his revenge. It’s a lot like the plot of Kill Bill, but with cowboy puppets.

Gunstringer: Recently escaped a shallow grave seeks revenge for no strings attached fun!

When it comes down to it, it’s a pretty basic but very enjoyable shooter on rails but the thing I like best about it is the art style. The whole game is presented as a puppet theatre, with an audience, and sets, and other puppets. You take the role of the main character in the puppet show. That’s what makes this game really interesting for me, that and yet again the Kinect interface. You have to stand and shoot, and there doesn’t seem to be a way around that – so even if you feel silly at first you have to immerse yourself in the game, which is ultimately rewarding.

Thanks for the lend Rob!
